Historical society film screening May 2
The Weisenberg Lowhill Township Historical Society will host a screening of the Fries Rebellion Movie 7 p.m. May 2 at the Weisenberg Lutheran Church, 7645 Weisenberg Church Road, New Tripoli.
This free screening open to the public is in anticipation of American250 celebrations to be held nationwide in 2026.
The Lower Macungie Township Historical Society has partnered with award-winning movie production companies, “In the Wee Hours” and “ubiFire Video Productions”, to produce an exciting film about the Fries Rebellion, a violent insurrection that occurred in Pa.’s Lehigh Valley between 1798-99.
A vegetable storage basket weaving class for teens ages 14 and older and adults will take place from 6 - 9 p.m. May 5 at their headquarters in Werley’s Corner, 4585 Werleys Corner Road, New Tripoli.
Debbi Zvanut has been weaving baskets for 35 years, learning when she was 10 years old. After being a hobby weaver and learning from local teachers, she has started sharing her skills with Girl Scouts and 4-H programs and now leads adult classes in five locations including her home.
She will provide all the materials.
Registration with payment is due by May 2.
A Genealogy Networking class will be held from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. May 9 at their headquarters in Werley’s Corner.
The historical society’s yard and bake sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 17 at their headquarters in Werley’s Corner.
Some items you may find include gently used and in good condition clothing for all ages, toys and games, kitchenware, décor, books and more.
Members can set up for free.
All other spots are $10, plus $2 per table.
They will take items to sell if you do not want to rent a spot at the yard sale.

The historical society will also be offering a Genealogy Networking class from 5-7 p.m. May 19 at their headquarters in Werley’s Corner.
There will be an additional day and time, starting in May. Due to Memorial Day, the May date was moved to the third Monday. Normally this session will be the fourth Monday of each month.
Please note they will be offering two sessions each month: the second Sunday of each month from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m., and fourth Monday of each month from 5-7 p.m.

Christ’s Church at Lowhill, 4695 Lowhill Church Road, New Tripoli, will be holding a penny party on May 2.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
Game starts at 7 p.m.
There will be great prizes, fun, fellowship, food for sale and a 50/50 drawing.
Music will be performed by DJ Jason.

Morgenland Union Church, 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield, is holding a Wheels at the Grove car show 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 10.
Brunch and lunch will be available for purchase in the pavilion behind the church.
They will also be holding a basket raffle and rumble seat rides in a 1935 Ford for a small fee.
