Catasauqua track swept by Lehighton
Lehighton rolled to a sweep over visiting Catasauqua in Colonial League action last week. The Indian girls cruised to a 124-25 win, while the boys earned a 95-51 victory.
Brielle Frable had a standout meet for the Lehighton girls, sweeping the 800, 1600 and 3200.
For Catasauqua, Florenni DeJesus Bido was the only winner, taking the 300 hurdles in 54.2.
On the boys side, Elijah Pagotto had a big day for the Indians, winning the 800 (2:13.8) and 3200 (15:07.8).
For the Rough Riders, Jeremiah Cofie won the 100 in 11.7. Hamaad Jenkins took the 200 in 22.5.
Josiah Lafond was the lone double-winner on the day, taking both the 110 and 300 hurdles with times of 16.3 and 41.7.
Manny Bolmer won the long jump with a distance of 21-10.
Zephyr Relays
The Zephyr Relays took place this past weekend.
The Northampton boys took first place with 101 points, well ahead of second place Freedom (83) and Palmerton (74.5). Whitehall was 10th with 39 points and Catasauqua was 13th with 16 points. There were 17 boys teams taking part.
Palmerton won the girls competition with 74 points. Northampton took second with 71 points and Notre Dame was third with 52.5 points. Whitehall was eighth with 35 points. Catasauqua was 17th with 7 points. There were 19 teams that took park.
Northampton’s girls 3200 relay team took first with a time of 10:20.33. The team was made up of Saige Korpics, Lilly Konya, Lindsay Reimer and Brooke Saul.
Whitehall’s Edrien Lee won the 100 with a time of 12.36.
Northampton’s Oliva Hayes won the pole vault clearing 10-0. Lucy Colyer won the shot put with a throw of 35-10.
Whitehall’s Llyneida Otanez was second in the 300 hurdles with a time of 48.9. Northampton’s Liv Jusinksi took second in the 3200 in 12:08.42. Northampton’s Anne Beenders was second in the triple jump with a 37-04.0.
Third place went to Whitehall’s Edrien Lee in the 200 where she timed in with a 26.19. Beenders also took a third in the high jump with a 5-1. The Kids 1600 relay team was third in 4:24.44.
Northampton’s Victoria Phillips was fourth in the high jump with a 5-1. Catty’s Alyssa Baker took fourth in the shot put with a throw of 30-11. Fourth place also went to Whitehall’s 1600 relay team which had a time of 4:25.44.
Whitehall’s 400 relay team was fifth in 51.98. Beenders also took a fifth place, this coming in the long jump with a 16-0.25. Phillips was fifth in the triple jump with a 33-08.5.
On the boys side, Northampton’s 400 relay crossed first with a time of 43.88. The team was made up of Ezekiel Spencer, Jacob Salamone, Alex Morales and Tristan McCants.
Catty’s 1600 relay team was first in the event, crossing in 3:29.84. That team was made up of Cadeo Estronza, Franklin Pujols, Hamaad Jenkins and Josiah Lafond. Whitehall was second in that event with a time of 3:32.74.
Northampton’s Jeremiah Strowder took home a second place finish in the 400 with his time of 50.42. The Zephs Reese Prebosnyak was fifth in the event with a 51.20.
The Kids 3200 relay team was third in 8:58.21.
Catty’s Lafond was third in two events - the 110 hurdles in 16.13 and the 300 hurdles in 41.85. The Kids Angelo Amato was fourth in the 300 hurdles in 42.44.
Taking a fourth was Prebosnyak in the 200 in 22.96. Catty’s Jenkins was fifth in that event in 22.98. Catty’s Manny Bolmer was fourth in the long jump with a 20-10.5.
Northampton’s Spencer was tied for fifth in the 100 with a time of 11.28. Estronza was fifth in the 800 in 2:08.28 and Strowder was fifth in the high jump with a 5-9.
