Belletieri blasts for hits in softball win over ACC

The Parkland High School softball team won two games last week to tie a season-best two-game win streak. The only other win streak of the season so far was two games to begin the season.

Last Wednesday, April 9, the Trojans fell to Emmaus 12-2 in five innings but the next day defeated East Stroudsburg 9-1. They opened this week with an 11-1 victory in six innings over Central Catholic.

In the game with the Hornets, Emmaus scored early and often, bringing home four runs in the first, two in the second, three in the third, one in the fourth and two in the fifth. The Hornets outhit the Trojans 13-6.

Both Anna Belletieri and Maria Moore finished with two hits to lead the lineup with Belletieri adding an RBI. Allison Hunsberger contributed an RBI.

In the win over the Cavaliers, Parkland trailed 1-0 in the bottom of the second before tying the score with a run in the bottom-half of the frame. The Trojans scored another run in the third and then took control of the game with five in the fifth and added two in the sixth.

Hunsberger went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and Moore had two hits and an RBI. Hunsberger went the distance inside the circle and struck out three batters to earn the win.

The Vikettes also had an early lead as they scored a run in the top of the first before Parkland answered with two in the bottom half. The Trojans scored two more in the third, five in the fourth and two in the sixth.

Belletieri was 4-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and scored three runs. Hunsberger recorded three hits, three RBIs and scored two runs, while striking out seven and allowing just one run inside the circle for the victory.

Parkland, which improved to 5-5 overall and 4-4 in the conference, hosted Easton Tuesday afternoon in a conference game and then are at Dieruff in another EPC matchup.
