Mother’s Day is celebrated May 11. Remember the special ladies in your life and brighten their day. Whether it’s your mother, grandmother, aunt or friend, a nice dinner, ice cream, flowers or a gift will bring them joy.

Happily, the spring weather is warming up. Neighborhood lawns are getting much greener and bulb flowers are in bloom. The warmth and sunshine are making some community members excited and eager to work in the yard.

This is a great time to prepare flower beds and do trimming, but the general rule for planting annual flowers is to wait until May 15 — at least — to ensure the danger of frost has passed.

Take breaks when gardening and enjoy!
