Richard K. Thompson

of Lower Macungie Township

Richard K. ”Rick” Thompson, 78, of Lower Macungie Township, died in his home April 21, 2025. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., where he spent the first 22 years of his life, he was a son of the late Doris M. (Alston) and James R. Thompson.

He lived longer than he thought since his father and two brothers did not live beyond their 50s.

He graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School and School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. Employed at Mack Trucks, Inc., which was a great love of his, he began as an illustrator and retired, after 30 years, as the manager of the illustration department where he was responsible for the production of its technical manuals.

He was deeply involved in community organizations. He was on the executive board of BSA Minsi Trails Council and the board of the Pennsylvania affiliate of the American Diabetes Association. He volunteered with various organizations including Easter Seals and United Way of the Lehigh Valley and was the business manager for the Miss Pennsylvania Pageant.

Above all, his children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter made his life wonderful.

He is survived by a son, Glenn, of Lower Macungie Township; daughters, Lori Krasnansky, of Lower Macungie Township, Jennifer Ryan and her husband, Sean Gilbert; grandchildren, Kyle Krasnansky, Alyssa Kullman, Jason Krasnansky, Abigail Ryan, Emily Ryan; great-granddaughter, Evelyn Krasnansky; nephews, James, David and Aaron, of Florida; numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by brothers, Bruce and James.

Arrangements were made by Stephens Funeral Home, Inc., 274 N. Krocks Road, Allentown.

Contributions can be made to any charitable organization in which he was associated.
