June H. Rhine
June H. (Hutchinson) Rhine, 95, formerly of Allentown, died April 13, 2025, at Cedarbrook Nursing Home — Allentown. She was the wife of the late Kenneth L. Rhine. Born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Luther A. and Catherine H. (Spangler) Hutchinson.
She was employed as a hostess at Perkins Restaurant and Bakery in Dorneyville for many years before retiring.
She was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church, Allentown, where she also served with the Ladies Aid Group.
She, above all, was a loving wife, mother and Nana who devoted her life to her family.
She was born during the Great Depression in 1929 and was the youngest of 10 children, most of whom had a hand in raising their baby sister. She met her husband at Lebanon High School and they graduated together in 1947. They moved several places in Pennsylvania before settling in Allentown in 1976.
Taking care of her children and being active in their schools and activities were her life’s passions. She was a true homebody. When her husband died in 1984, she surprised everyone and got a job as a hostess, first at the Pied Piper Restaurant in Trexlertown and then at the very busy Perkins in Allentown where she became affectionately known as “Junebug.” She always greeted patrons with a smile and became known as the “hostess with the mostest.”
She enjoyed watching the Phillies, Eagles and figure skating but most of all loved watching her grandchildren participate in sporting events and theater performances. She was their biggest fan.
She was always strong, upbeat, happy and kind to all. She never complained and found the good in everyone and everything. Her family was blessed she was their matriarch and they will miss her beyond measure.
She is survived by children, Joanne R. Jones (Scott), of Allentown, Jayne R. Bartlett, of Allentown, Dr. Larry K. (Sandy), of Breinigsville; grandchildren, Michelle Anderson (Josh), Michael Bartlett (Talia), Eric Bartlett, Mark (Chrissy), Lauren, Natalie Mann (Chris), Heather Jones, Ryan Jones (Ashley); great-grandchildren, Jayce and Bryce, Alani and Ryson Jones; sister, Betty Beicher, of Atlanta, Ga.
She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Fred G. Bartlett; sisters, Katherine Fulmer, Florence Yocum, Nellie Mathew, Bella Ely, Ruth Corcorran, Emma Tice; brother, Luther Hutchinson.
