Catty Eats Fest
Catty Eats Fest combated a cloudy- and rainy-weather forecast April 27. The event ran from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Catasauqua Park and Playground, 501 American St. At 11 a.m., there was rain that lasted until about 1:30 p.m. After the rain ceased, there were even some blue spots in the sky that attendees enjoyed.
Despite the weather, Brake For Turtles, an eclectic musical group from the Lehigh Valley, played many popular songs that had some vendors and attendees singing along.
Unsurprisingly, the rainy weather tamped down attendance, but for those who attended, the weather did not deter them from tasting the large array of foods, from hot dogs to steak sandwiches, Mediterranean food to jerk beef, Middle Eastern fare to sliders and more.
Catasauqua Youth Athletic Association sold hot dogs, baked goods, pickles on sticks and water to benefit its youth programs. The booth was staffed by Jessica Harrison, CYAA cheerleading director and fundraising coordinator.
Matt-Hat Jerky had a wide selection of jerky and provided attendees with free samples. Visit matthatjerky.com to order online.
Jerzey Girl Pickles, owned by Sarah Lebetz, of Slatington, offered a greater selection of pickles than one could imagine. Kyle Imroth, of Mount Arlington, N.J., staffed the pickle stand. Visit the Facebook page to review all the different pickles offered.
Magic Food had a school-bus-like truck. Staff referred to their menu as the “Magic Food Menu,” offering authentic Middle Eastern food like shawarma, falafel wraps, hummus, uzi and more. They also had soda, fresh lemonade and water.
Slide On By food truck offered a variety of items for sale, such as gourmet sliders, elevated hot dogs and fresh-squeezed lemonade. Visit slideonby21.com for more information about its culinary offerings.
Mediterranean King offered Mediterranean food. Visit the business’ Facebook page or website, mediterraneanking.com, to review the menu and learn more about catering services.
Adult beverages were offered at Presley’s Cocktail Bar. Two styles of margaritas were available. The most popular was a vodka lavender lemonade margarita. Staff said their bartending services and trailer rentals are available for weddings, corporate and other events, private parties and more. Visit presleysbar.com for more information.
Some nonfood offerings included Sumair’s Travel Services. The business specializes in family packages and retiree, business, group and luxury travel. To book your vacation, call 484-294-5602 or email sumairreservations@outlook.com.
Jacob Kasprenski was present talking to attendees about his business, Kasprenski Family Eye Care, located at 1088 Howertown Road, North Catasauqua. Call 610-443-1544 for an appointment.
Weather notwithstanding, it seemed all enjoyed the good music and food and vendor tables.
