Catasauqua: Catasauqua Garden Club to meet May 7 at Deily Coal yard

Catasauqua Garden Club will meet 1 p.m. May 7 at the Deily Coal Yard, Union and Canal streets.

Three experienced and creative garden club members — Deb Mellish, Carol Pierce and Deb Remington — will lead all in a hands-on build-a-container-garden program. Bring a reasonable-sized container but no refrigerator crates please.

The meeting will also include the usual artistic and horticultural exhibits for judging.

Plans for the annual plant sale, scheduled for May 17, will be finalized.

Garden-friendly visitors are always welcome. If you are a non-member and plan on coming, call Mellish at 610-231-0603, as there will be material fees.

Whitehall Active Community Center, 2301 Pine St., will be celebrating its eighth anniversary noon May 8, following lunch. Lunch will be available for a small donation, and reservations need to be made by May 6.

Otherwise, stop by to say hello and enjoy cake and ice cream. You can chat with members of the board and other members of the center.

The South Catasauqua annual neighborhood yard sale is being held May 16 and 17 at locations south of Race Street, up to and including Circle Drive. The sale will be held rain or shine.

Participants list special items on Craig’s List, so please let them know what special items you may have.

There is a small fee for participation to defray the cost of the neighborhood permit and the cost of advertising. Payment can be made to Linda at 385 Faith Drive, Ronnie at 520 Circle Drive, Penny at 809 Bethlehem Road or Eugenia at 817 Bath Ave. Pay the fee by May 10, so all expenses can be paid to guarantee a great sale.

Call Eugenia at 610-264-2018 with any questions.
