Pates surging in boys lax action

Freedom keeps picking up steam heading down the home stretch and the Pates hope that turns into another playoff run.

After a slow start to the lacrosse season, the Pates are winners of five of their last six games, pushing themselves back to the .500 mark and squarely into the playoff mix.

Head coach Tony Fabrizio knew it was a matter of time for the boys’ team to find their rhythm this spring.

“We really needed to find ourselves and our team chemistry,” said Fabrizio. “I feel like we’re growing as a team and are getting better.”

The Pates knocked off Liberty 8-7 and Northampton 15-9 last week and now have a week with Northwestern (6-4), Pleasant Valley (2-10) and Central York on tap.

With only five games left in the regular season, they still have a shot at qualifying for the EPC tournament if things play out in their favor.

“We are looking to push for a playoff spot,” Fabrizio said. “We could still theoretically make EPCs, but we need to take care of business.”

Liberty (4-9) snapped a six-game losing streak last week with a 14-6 win over Quakertown. The ‘Canes would need to win their last five games of the season to qualify for the playoffs. They have Saucon Valley (2-7) and Parkland (10-3) on deck this week
