Falkenstein running for school board

Robert Falkenstein, of Whitehall, has cross-filed as a candidate for director on the Whitehall-Coplay School Board in the May 20 primary election.

Falkenstein said his 33-year teaching career, along with his community service, prepares him to seek this new position. This June, he will retire from Palmerton High School, where he taught English and advised the yearbook, the school newspaper and the freshman class. As a PSEA member, he was a building representative and chairman of the scholarship committee.

He is a graduate of Upper Darby High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in communications from Temple University, a secondary education certification from Kutztown University and a Master of Science in classroom technology from Wilkes University.

Both his children are Whitehall High School graduates. His wife, Susan, worked as a paraeducator in the district. She is the founder of Angel Resources, which provides new clothing and sneakers for children at low costs.

Falkenstein said he has been assisting the voters of Cementon on election days since 2004 as a poll worker. He represents Whitehall’s District 11 as an elected representative to the Lehigh County Republican Committee since 2016. He and his wife volunteer at Whitehall-Coplay Hunger Initiative Food Pantry. He also supports the community with his son, Aaron, as members of the Knights of Columbus Council 4050.
