Hawks look to turn corner

Bethlehem Catholic has started off this spring slower than anticipated, but the Hawks look like they’re turning a corner.

After starting 3-4, Becahi won two straight games last week posting wins over Whitehall and Northampton to get themselves above .500.

“We seem to be getting healthy which is huge for us,” said head coach Matt Corsi. “The last two wins were against two really good teams in Northampton and Whitehall, so we were able to get some confidence from those wins.”

The Hawks knocked off Northampton 8-2, getting three RBI from Joey Richards in the win. Phil Taylor pitched six shutout innings and struck out seven to register the win last week for Becahi.

In their 9-7 win over Whitehall earlier in the week, Richards led the team in RBI again with three and Bryce Blawn added two RBI to help the Hawks win.

While the wins were nice to get them back on track, Corsi hopes a lesson was learned from their defeats.

“We learned we have to keep putting in the work,” said Corsi. “Anyone can beat anyone in this league on any given day.”

The Hawks have one game on the docket this week with a nonleague showdown at North Pocono on Saturday.
