EHS names student of the week
Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?
A. I am a senior at Emmaus High School.
Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.
A. My mom’s name is Magdalena, my dad’s name is Zbigniew, my brother’s name is Kai and my dog’s name is Nina.
Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?
A. My favorite subject is math because it comes naturally to me, and I enjoy the satisfaction of finally understanding a concept after working through it.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognitions?
A. I have been on the High Honor Roll all of my years of high school, qualified twice for the Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership conference, placed in multiple coding competitions and am a member of National Honor Society.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?
A. I am the treasurer of the robotics team, vice president of ACSL (Computer Science Club), part of the lacrosse team, a member of Emmaus FBLA, a tutor and I work as a runner at Stone Farm Cellars Winery. These extracurriculars have impacted my high school career in a way where I don’t have a lot of free time, but they have helped me develop strong time management skills.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. My biggest challenge to date would be managing my time throughout high school. Balancing a rigorous course load with AP and honors classes, sports, extracurricular activities and working has been difficult and it’s been a challenge to avoid burning out.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. My next goal after high school is to graduate from Penn State University, the University of Maryland or the University of Michigan (I still haven’t decided) with a mechanical engineering degree.
Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with an historically significant person, whom would you choose? Why?
A. I would choose to spend my evening with LeBron James because I have looked up to him since I was young. I admire his hard work and success both in basketball and in life. I would love to learn from him and understand what it takes to be successful and an accomplished person.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I would like to be remembered as someone who was friendly and approachable, connecting with people from all different groups in high school. I try to maintain positive relationships with everyone, while avoiding conflicts and balance having fun with academic success.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. I would say to try new things, because you may discover something that you really enjoy. From trying a new food to taking a class, stepping out of your comfort zone can lead to new experiences and opportunities.
