An annoyed ogre finds himself on a life-changing journey when “Shrek the Musical” travels to the stage, 7 p.m. April 3, 4; 1 p.m., 7 p.m. April 5, Masson Auditorium, Allentown Central Catholic High School, 301 N. Fourth St., Allentown.
Based on the humorous picture book “Shrek” by William Steig and the DreamWorks 2001 animation feature film of the same title, the production has music by Jeanine Tesori and lyrics and book by David Lindsay-Abaire.
Director Kateri Swavely-Verenna, is assisted by Assistant Director-Choreographer Adrienne Motley, Music Director Chris Hamm, Technical Director JT Motley and Stage Manager Sam Austin.
Premiering on Broadway in 2008, “Shrek” was nominated for eight Tony Awards, receiving one Tony.
Production numbers include “Big Bright Beautiful World,” “Story of My Life,” “Morning Person” “This Is How a Dream Comes True” and “Who I’d Be.”
