BETHLEHEM social calendar July 24

SUMMER SCIENCE SERIES: YWCA Bethlehem’s Summer Science Series is a program aiming to provide educational and recreational activities for Bethlehem young folks. These rotating science fair sessions will allow students to use their creative thinking by completing the activities while engaging their minds with scientific concepts taught during the school year. Sessions include four to six STEM activities planned for each date and serve around 30 kids.

This event is free and open to kids of all ages. The series began Saturday, July 20, at Broughal MS at 114 W. Morton St, Bethlehem, and will continue for two following Saturdays from 2 to 4 p.m. Food is provided for all the attendees at no cost. The Summer Science Series was made possible by Atena and B. Braun.

The final session Saturday, Aug. 3, includes a guest speaker, Stephanie Lugo, known as Ms. Robotics! Please note that Aug. 3 date requires participants to preregister on the website ywcabethlehem.org/summerscienceseries under the “Get Involved” tab.

5TH ANNIVERSARY: OASIS Community Center’s five-year anniversary celebration will take place Friday, July 26, from noon until 5 p.m. OASIS is a resource for those who’ve experienced substance-related loss, as well as families and friends impacted by a loved one’s active substance abuse. Programming is available to residents of all ages.

Northampton County Executive Lamont G. McClure will be in attendance to provide remarks at the ribbon cutting ceremony at noon. The County of Northampton Drug & Alcohol Department and the PA Department of Drug & Alcohol Programs (DDAP) provide funding for OASIS.

The event is open to the public and media.

STUDENT EXCHANGE HOSTING: Hosting an exchange student is not just about providing a home for a young person from another country, it’s about inviting a new family member into your life. It’s an opportunity to learn about different cultures firsthand and to share your own traditions and values. The experience fosters mutual understanding and respect, broadening horizons for everyone involved.

NIGHT AT THE RACES: Sponsored by Our Sacred Heart Knights of Columbus Council 15682, Saturday, Sept. 7, in Father King Memorial Hall, located in the basement of the main church, at 1817 First St. and Freemansburg Avenue, Bethlehem.
