Youth learn about emergency and medical services

Counselors and campers gathered for a photo at the South Whitehall Township Emergency Services Youth Camp June 10-14. Tyler Malay, battalion chief, and Xavier Rivas, firefighter, both with Woodlawn Fire Department, campers Micha, Sara, Gage, Sophia, Kaya, Kaitlyn, Emma, Madison, Jayden, (back) Adam Cramsey, battalion chief, and Daniel Luxenberg, firefighter, both with Woodlawn Fire Department, campers Purvi, Dana, Katya, Garrett, Isaac, Josiah, Isabella, Gavin, Casey, Bowie, Elijah, and Upper Macungie Fire Safety Inspectors Jamie Keenhold and Douglas Nothstein took part.

South Whitehall Township sponsored an emergency services youth camp from June 10-14.

Students were introduced to variety of first responder organizations including police, fire and emergency medical services.

They were also introduced to Lehigh County Special Operations as well as learning first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

At the end of the week, each camper was challenged to a timed obstacle course involving the training they had during the week.
