Salisbury High School to hold spring concert May 7

It is officially the fourth marking period for the 2023-2024 school year. And as I’m winding down on what has been a great senior year with my oldest, I was told our seniors have six Fridays left. WHAT!? The days are numbered for this school year so those with students who will return to school next year know that number is not much larger. For those senior parents like myself, hold on to these days because they are flying by.

Pennsylvania System of School Assessment testing for those in grades 3-8 will occur April 22-24 (English/Language Arts) and April 29-30 (math). Students in grades 4 and 8 will take the science PSSAs May 1 and 2. Please encourage students to have breakfast and take their time and simply do their best. That is all we can ask of our students.

Salisbury High School will hold its spring concert 7 p.m. May 7. This concert will feature choral and instrumental performances as well as a tribute to the Class of 2024. Admission is free and a reception will follow the concert.

The Salisbury Township Art Show will be May 8 beginning 5 p.m. at SHS and will feature art from grades K-12.

The last days of school information has been released by the district. June 7 will be an early dismissal for all students. Students at SHS and Salisbury Middle School will dismiss 12:15 p.m. and Salisbury Elementary School will follow 1:15 p.m.

The last day of the school year will be June 10 with SHS and SMS dismissing 10:30 a.m. and SES following 11:15 a.m. Please note dismissal times for those with younger students to make arrangements for bus pickups.

The next operations and finance committee meeting will be held at the administrative building 7 p.m. May 8.

The Salisbury Athletic Booster Club will hold a clothing drive 9 a.m. to noon June 8 at the entrance to the SHS Auxiliary gym. Start purging those unwanted items now.

St. Luke’s will hold a soccer camp 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday June 18 to Aug. 8. The camp will be held at the St. Luke’s Sportsplex located at 4636 Crackersport Road, Allentown.

Camp is for boys and girls aged 5-12 with age groups 5-7, 8-10 and 11-12. The camp will offer alternating weeks of specific focus including foot skills, passing, positional play and speed/agility training. For registration, contact Timothy.McGorry@sluhn.org.

The township yard waste drop off sites are now open. The Devonshire site will be open April 25 and 27 and the Franko site will be open April 29, May 2 and 4. The sites are open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

Friends and members of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Eastern Salisbury, 1707 Church Road, Allentown, will clean up around the campus and paint lines in the parking lot 11 a.m. April 27. Lunch will be provided for volunteers. Help is needed.
