Coffee Chat at Donerds Donuts for people on autism spectrum

By MICHAEL HIRSCH

Special to The Press

Donerds Donuts, Bethlehem, recently initiated a Coffee Chat.

Coffee Club for Adults on the Autism Spectrum are invited to come together in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Autism Awareness Month runs until April 30.

The Coffee Chat, offered every two weeks, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Mondays, until Sept. 4, is an opportunity to connect with others who are on the spectrum and to build lasting friendships.

Those with autism spectrum disorders can take part in casual coffee talk, play games, such as Trivia or do sensorial activities.

Sarah Phillips explained there were more people at the previous meeting, but every event is different.

This time Trivia was the game played on three teams.

There may be bingo or Jenga and there are always Rubik’s cubes on every table.

Winners won free doughnuts.
