YMCA earns three top-three finishes

The Bethlehem YMCA Stars swim team returned from the Pennsylvania state meet with three top 3 finishes the weekend of March 22 in Morgantown, W. Va.

Darren Nguyen placed second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.72 and third in the 50 backstroke with a time of 29.09.

Adam Barlow took third place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:01.03.

Barlow’s preliminary time of 1:00.87 was a national qualifying time, earning Barlow the opportunity to compete in Greensboro, N.C. on April 6.

Barlow also swam the 200 breaststroke at the state meet, placing fourth with a time of 2:15.50, eighth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.04, and eighth in the 100 butterfly in 57.96.

Nguyen was fourth in the 50 free with a time of 25.38, fifth in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:00.80, and 11th in the 50 breaststroke in 34.19.

Theo Collins placed 10th in the 50 breaststroke in 38.38, and Aly Yerk was 15th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:18.37.

In relay events, Jack Amato, Pablo Dayan, Nguyen, and Theodore Shang finished the 200 free relay in 11th place with a time of 1:52.97.

Greg Geiger, Collins, Naryan Lal, and Nolan Samson swam the 200 medley relay and placed 14th with a time of 2:30.65.
