EHS tennis wins ninth straight match

The Emmaus boys tennis team won its ninth straight match when it downed Bethlehem Catholic 6-0 last Friday.

The Hornets are now 9-1 this season with their only loss coming a season-opening match against unbeaten Liberty.

In the win over Bethlehem Catholic, Nick Stone, Chris Stone and Caleb Brown won singles matches for Emmaus. The Hornets’ doubles teams of Ben Fletcher/Quinn Durkin, Sarvesh Senguttuvan/Qaid Peatiwala and Ayden Kegley/Caleb Brashear won their doubles matches. All of Emmaus’ wins came in straight sets.

Emmaus won all three singles matches in a 5-2 victory over Easton last Monday, March 25. Nick Stone, Chris Stone and Brown won in straight sets. The Hornets got doubles wins from Kegley/Brashear and Josh Haas Cole Stuchko.

Emmaus shut out Stroudsburg 6-0 on March 22. The Stone brothers and Brown won singles matches, while Fletcher/Durkin, Peatinala/Senguttuvan and Brashear/Kegley won doubles matches.

Two Emmaus singles players came from behind to help the team beat Pleasant Valley, 6-0 on March 21.

Chris Stone won his singles match in straight sets, while Brown and Durkin both dropped their first set before winning their next two. Brown won 3-6, 6-2, 7-5. Durkin picked up a 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 win. The doubles teams of Ryan Baig/Haas, Senguttuvan/Peatiwala and Kegley/Brashear won their matches in straight sets.
