Girls lax teams look for wins

Freedom and Liberty look to keep plugging away in the early part of the girls’ lacrosse season.

The Patriots (1-2) picked up their first win of the season last week with a 15-8 victory over Liberty.

Karee Vanderver led the way with seven goals and Arianna O’Keefe collected eight saves, as the Pates held off their rivals.

It was a much-needed boost for the Pates, who suffered a pair of defeats to undefeated Easton and Nazareth teams to start the season.

Liberty (2-3) got back in the win column on Monday with a 17-10 triumph over Daniel Boone. Christina Bozakis paced the Hurricanes with five goals in the win, as they head into a new week of action with Northampton and Pleasant Valley on tap.

Freedom rounds out their week with Emmaus and Saucon Valley.
