Coplay Borough councilman steps down

During the April 2 Coplay Borough Council workshop meeting, Tiffany Benson, borough secretary/treasurer, announced the expected resignation of Councilman Mike Dreisbach.

In a letter of resignation, read by Benson, Dreisbach shared his regret to offer the resignation of his council seat. He reflected on his time holding the position.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to meet and serve the borough council, borough administration and emergency services personnel,” Dreisbach’s letter said. “I offer my best wishes to my colleagues for their continued success and service to the borough of Coplay.”

Council is expected to approve the resignation, effective April 30, during the regular meeting April 9.

In other business, council discussed the borough pool, such as opening and closing dates, season passes and general admission fees.

Other possible approvals for the April 9 meeting will include amendments for ordinances regarding excavation and restoration work and the borough Hometown Heroes project.

Yard waste collection will begin April 5. According to Paul Boyle, public works director, this collection is for brush and shrubbery, not grass or clippings.

The regular business meeting is set for 7 p.m. April 9 at the municipal building, 98 S. Fourth St.
