Township youngsters show up to gather eggs at annual hunt

It was billed as the Salisbury Township Recreation Committee’s annual Easter Egg Hunt held March 16 at Lindberg Park. When scores of enthusiastic youngsters heard the word “go” though, it seemed more like an egg scramble in the rush to see how many plastic eggs they could find.

Salisbury Township Recreation Director Genny Baillie said committee volunteers spread more than a thousand plastic eggs around the grounds of Lindberg Park for three age groups of township youngsters to find and stash in their Easter baskets. The plastic eggs held nonperishable goodies to be found when the egg half-shells were separated.

More than 160 township youths were registered for the event, Baillie said, “and almost all of them showed up.”

Three Salisbury Township Police Department patrol officers were also on hand to distribute police-department-logo plastic beverage mugs.
