Leroy R. Bogert Sr.

Leroy R. Bogert Sr., 83, of Germansville, died on March 2, 2024, in Cedar Crest Post Acute Care, Allentown.

He and his wife, Dolores M. (Fenstermaker) Bogert, were married 63 years last Aug. 18.

Born on March 29, 1940, in Allentown, Leroy was the son of the late John T. Bogert Sr. and Hilda (Fischl) Bogert.

He faithfully and honorably served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

He was a manufacturing engineer for the former Bear Automotive, Bangor, for many years.

Before that, he was a machinist for the former Mosser Industries.

He was of the Lutheran faith.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by children Leroy R. Bogert Jr., and his wife, Dorenda, of Kempton, Andrea Smith and her husband, Danny, of Rockingham, N.C.; sister Joan Hein and her husband, Carl, of Kempton; grandchildren Nicholas Bogert of Kempton, James, Jamie and Jennifer Ponicsan, all of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by siblings June Farrell and John T. Jr. and George Bogert.

His memorial service will be 11 a.m. March 8 in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville.

Family and friends may pay their respects 10-11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Interment with military honors will follow the service at Jordan Lutheran Church Cemetery, Orefield.
