LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

EHS names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am currently in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My parents are Amy and Liborio and I have two younger brothers, Jackson and Evan. I have two dogs named Sami and Griffin.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject is science. I have always been interested in biology and earth sciences and how our world works. I am also very passionate about the environment and nature.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I have received the Principal’s Honor Roll every quarter and Academic Excellence Award in ninth, 10th and 11th grades. I have also submitted some of my art pieces to Scholastic Art and Writing Awards and won a Gold Key in 10th grade and a Silver Key in 11th grade.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?

A. I was a founding member of the National Art Honor Society at EHS in 2022 and was selected as vice president in 2023. We recently completed a mural partnered with the Allentown Building 21 students for the Allentown Service Plaza. It was a really awesome experience to see what my peers and I had worked on presented for so many people to see and to help travelers understand what the Lehigh Valley means to us. Being in a leadership position has also taught me how to be more assertive. I also really enjoy being around creative people, such as our club director, Mrs. Katie Pfenninger. She is an amazing teacher and does so much for the students at Emmaus to expose them to amazing art opportunities.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. I consider my biggest challenge to date to be connecting with peers. Sometimes at school I have a hard time reaching out and can feel left out. I am trying to work on those things so I can be a better friend to others and more confident as a person.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. My next goal after high school is to go to college to study environmental science or conservation ecology.

Q. Whom do you hope to emulate? Why?

A. I hope to emulate many role models I have currently in my life. I hope to be creative, inspiring, passionate and patient like my teachers, Mrs. Katie Pfenninger and Miss Kristin Susens. I also hope to be like my parents, always dedicated to helping others and being positive and caring.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered as a kind, passionate, creative individual. I hope to help heal our planet by educating people and setting examples of what sustainability should be.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. My advice for my peers would be to always be considerate and understanding of others. You never know if someone is acting a certain way because they are having a hard time.
