CWSA denies resident request

During the Feb. 15 Coplay Whitehall Sewer Authority meeting, CWSA General Manager Matt Harleman presented a letter from a resident requesting a rate reduction due to pool leakage and a constant need to top off the water level. The board replied it hasn’t been CWSA’s practice to do this and recommends the resident get water from another source.

Harleman also spoke about a Lehigh County Authority invoice for sewer treatment charges in the amount of $379,784. An in-house review of the bill shows a misreporting of another township, resulting in an overcharge of $3,301. The bill should be $375,982.

A request was made to LCA to send an updated bill. The board approved paying the updated amount. This recommendation was approved by CWSA Attorney Andrew Schantz.

Finally, Harleman said the Taylor Villas Development requested a letter of credit reduction for phases 1, 2 and 3 of the project. Phase 1 would go from $37,700 to $6,400. Phase 2 would change from $29,100 to $4,000. Phase 3 would go from $30,200 to $4,300.

Balances remaining are for legal costs and other managerial items. This motion was voted on by the board and carried.

Chairman James Hahn shared a letter of thanks received from the Whitehall Active Community Center for the December 2023 donation from CWSA.
