NORTH WHITEHALL: Union UCC to host labyrinth retreat

BY SUSAN RUMBLE

Special to The Press

Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, will host a labyrinth retreat 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 24 in Memorial Hall.

Displayed on a canvas spread out on the floor, the labyrinth will be used for prayer and walking meditation.

There is one path to the center and back out.

The ancient practice is used by many faiths for spiritual centering, contemplation and prayer.

The labyrinth is described as a physical expression of the interior journey toward God.

Wear socks and be prepared to take off your shoes as you participate in this walking meditation pilgrimage.

Enjoy a potluck breakfast before starting the journey through the labyrinth.

A volunteer will prepare soup, and everyone will be invited to enjoy a time of reflection based on the book, “40 Words for 40 Days: Pauses for Lent” by Trevor Hudson.

The author reports, “Sometimes we all need to pause, to put life on hold for a few moments. The act of pausing can create space for God in our hectic lives.”
