District News: Borough Elementary to celebrate 100 days of school Feb. 2

The first 100 days of school milestone is coming up! Borough Elementary Schools will celebrate Feb. 2. Get ready for fun activities, creative projects and maybe even a few 100-year-old transformations as everyone is invited to dress like they are 100 years old.

Northampton Area Middle School’s Cherrydale fundraiser is underway. Fliers went out in the homerooms, but students can also register for an online account. The PTA’s goal is to raise $3,000 for student activities.

You can help by taking these simple steps: Register at shopfund.com; share your shopping link with family and friends via social media, email or text; and set a goal (students should aim for five online supporters).

For paper orders, checks are payable to NAMS PTA, and orders are due by Feb. 5.

Moore Elementary School will soon be kicking off its biggest fundraiser of the year. The goal is to raise $12,000 for the Moore Pride SWPBS program. Every student will get to be included in the program, regardless of financial participation.

For the Moore Glow Run, registration will be open starting Feb. 8. The actual fundraiser kickoff is Feb. 22, and the Glow Run is March 1.

Students will receive more detailed information as the dates approach.

The fun, highflying Harlem Wizards are coming to Northampton Area High School, 1619 Laubach Ave., Feb. 17. The game begins 5 p.m., and the doors will open 4 p.m.

General admission is $15. There is no cost for ages 3 and under to attend. There are also some extra-special admission packages available. An online processing fee of $1.50 per ticket will be added to your final total.

The online box office for this event will close three hours before the game.

Pink shirt day at NAMS will occur Feb. 28. Each year, NAMS participates in this day to show, as a school community, students and staff encourage everyone to practice kindness and that bullying will not be tolerated.

Remember to wear your purchased pink shirt if you ordered one.

Sign up your child for the after-school small group tutoring program, where he or she will receive help with assignments. This is open to all NAMS students.

This program will be held 2:30-3:30 p.m. most Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

NAMS PTA is currently searching for officers. Reach out to Dave Lafferty at laffertd@nasdschools.org if you would like to attend or learn more about being a PTA officer or join the next PTA meeting.

If you have recently moved, please provide two new proofs of residency and email them to gordona@nasdschools.org. Northampton Area School District will then update your Sapphire for mailings and transportation. This is important so you do not miss any valuable information or letters that may be sent home.

The NAMS Clothing Closet wants to help keep you warm. Winter coats are available for families who are in need.
