University of Scranton

Dean’s list is announced

Local residents were among more than 1,600 students named to University of Scranton’s dean’s list for the 2023 fall semester. This list recognizes students for academic excellence. A student must have a grade-point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours during the semester to achieve this honor. The list includes students from the Jesuit university’s college of arts and sciences, Kania School of Management and Panuska College of Professional Studies.

Catasauqua: Kayla M. Cunningham, a freshman secondary education-citizenship and history major, is in the college of arts and sciences.

Northampton: Hannah J. Werkheiser, a senior kinesiology major, is in the Panuska College of Professional Studies.

Whitehall: Michael J. Gallo, a sophomore political science major, is in the college of arts and sciences. Joseph M. Lisicky, a senior accounting major, is in the Kania School of Management.

The University of Scranton is a Jesuit university located in northeastern Pennsylvania.

SUNY Morrisville

Ackerman named to dean’s list

SUNY Morrisville has announced Shyanne Ackerman, of Bath, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2023 semester. To be named to this list, a student must achieve a 3.0 to 3.99 GPA for the semester and complete 12 credit hours.

SUNY Morrisville’s curricula are enriched with applied learning and pave the way for opportunity at both the Morrisville and Norwich campuses. An action-oriented, interactive learning lab, the college is a national leader in technology and has been lauded for its exemplary, innovative and effective community service programs.

Harding University

Hess earns dean’s list, graduates

Baylie Hess, of Whitehall, is one of more than 300 students who received diplomas and were recognized as Harding University graduates for fall 2023 during a commencement ceremony Dec. 16, 2023. Hess received a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education. University President Mike Williams recognized the candidates as they were recommended by the faculty for graduation.

Graduates included students from the colleges of allied health, arts and humanities, pharmacy, sciences and Bible and ministry; the university college; Paul R. Carter College of Business Administration; Cannon-Clary College of Education; and Carr College of Nursing.

Hess is also among more than 1,300 Harding University students included on the dean’s list for grades achieved during the fall 2023 semester. The dean’s list is published each semester by Dr. Marty Spears, university provost, honoring those who have achieved high scholarship. To be eligible, a student must be carrying 12 or more hours with a 3.65 or higher GPA and no incompletes.

Harding University is a private Christian, liberal arts university located in Searcy, Ark. Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and celebrating its centennial year, it is the largest private university in the state. Harding’s student body represents students from across the U.S. and more than 50 nations and territories. Seton Hall University

Schroyer earns dean’s list

Seton Hall University is pleased to announce Matthew Schroyer, of Bath, has qualified for the fall 2023 dean’s list. After the close of every semester, undergraduate students completing all courses with a GPA of 3.4, with no grades lower than “C,” qualify for the dean’s list.
