Marilyn V. Whiteley First Presbyterain Church member

Marilyn V. Whiteley, 93, formerly of Hellertown, died January 20, 2024, at Kirkland Village, Bethlehem. Born in Trenton, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late Seymour L. and Mary E. (Arnold) VanOrden. She was the wife of Roger L. Whiteley for 71 years.

She was a 1947 graduate of Morrisville High School. She was a 1949 graduate of Rider College, where she earned a BA in Medical Secretarial Science and was a member of the Sigma Iota Chi Sorority

She was a medical secretary.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Bethlehem, since 1954, and was on the Board of Deacons in 1966.

She volunteered at St. Luke’s Ladies Aide Society and the Cort Center for Handicap Horseback Riding. She was a horsewoman.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Jon (Denise) Whiteley of Denver, Colorado; Joanne (John) Burtner of Sylva, North Carolina and Jeffrey (Denice) Whiteley of Perkasie; a son-in-law, Richard McVoy of Keene, New Hampshire; six grandchildren, Mary, Rachel, Jonathan, Andrew, Brittany and Jaime; and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Joy W. Ackerman (Richard McVoy); and a sister, Suzanne Mount.
