Retail theft

Someone removed a backpack and filled it with approximately $1,000 worth of merchandise from Dick’s Sporting Goods, 707 N. Krocks Road, Lower Macungie Township, then left the store without paying for the items, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The incident was reported 6:32 p.m. Dec. 4, 2023, by store personnel, according to authorities.

Theft

A resident of Walnut Lane, Lower Macungie Township, discovered nine traffic cones were removed from his residence between Oct. 1, 2023 and Jan. 2, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The cones were valued at $300.

Theft from motor vehicle

Someone removed items valued at more than $3,158 from an unlocked vehicle parked along Hamilton Boulevard, Lower Macungie Township, around 4:48 p.m. Dec. 3, 2023, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. Items taken included a laptop computer, valued at $840; ear buds, valued at $240; miscellaneous cosmetics, valued at $403; miscellaneous medical equipment, valued at $317.13; a smartwatch, valued at $49.99; a second smartwatch, valued at $39.99; a designer backpack, valued at $248; a designer wallet, valued at $59; designer prescription glasses, valued at $290; designer sunglasses, valued at $79.60; a second pair of prescription glasses, valued at $393; a stylus pen, valued at $49.99; a second pen, valued at $49.99; a pill organizer, valued at $20.99 and a glucose meter, valued at $22.99.

Accident

A Boyertown motorist was hurt in a two vehicle crash around 9:21 p.m. Jan. 6, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The vehicles collided at the intersection of Chestnut Street and Fountain Road, Upper Milford Township. Both vehicles were towed from the crash scene. The Boyertown motorist was taken by Macungie Ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, according to authorities. The second driver was not hurt.

A Macungie motorist was hurt when her vehicle was struck by a trailer while on Brookside Road, Lower Macungie Township, 8:54 a.m. Dec. 21, 2023, when a hitch on a nearby vehicle failed and the trailer came free from the vehicle pulling it, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. A pickup truck was northbound on Brookside Road pulling a trailer. The Macungie driver was headed south on Brookside Road, waiting for oncoming traffic while attempting to turn right onto Buckeye Road. As the pickup was passing the intersection, the trailer hitch malfunctioned and the trailer came free from the pickup truck, colliding with the driver side of the Macungie motorist’s vehicle. Macungie EMS and Stew’s Towing also responded.

DUI

A 55-year-old male, of Macungie, allegedly was driving under the influence near the intersection of Sequoia Drive and Pioneer Drive, Lower Macungie Township, 10:34 p.m. Dec. 14, 2023, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville.

Warrant arrest

A 33-year-old male, possibly of Washington, was taken into custody on an arrest warrant from New York after state police, Lower Macungie Township firefighters and Lower Macungie EMS were dispatched to the area of the intersection of Spring Creek Road and Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, 1:42 a.m. Jan. 10 for a person stranded due to flooding, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville.
