Coval drops 27 in Parkland’s season-opening win over Rams

The Parkland boys basketball team won its season-opening game Friday, beating Spring-Ford 58-48 in a nonleague contest.

The Trojans were led by senior all-state player Nick Coval, who scored a game-high 27 points in the win. Zaire Smaltz added nine points while Robbie Ruisch and Jayden Thomas had seven points each.

The Rams, which had three scorers reach double digits, were led by Tommy Kelly with 17 points.

After hosting their season opener, the defending district champion Trojans will hit the road for games at Allen (Wednesday, Dec. 6), Freedom (Friday, Dec. 8) and Malvern Prep (nonleague, Saturday, Dec. 9) before hosting Whitehall on Tuesday, Dec. 12.
