Annual 40 Hours Devotion Dec. 14-15

The Allentown Central Catholic High School Dance Team will host a dance clinic 12:30-2:30 p.m. Dec. 16 in Masson Auditorium. The clinic is open to girls and boys in kindergarten through eighth grade. Dancers will work with the ACCHS Dance Team and learn a Christmas dance routine and may opt to perform at halftime of the boys basketball game that afternoon (3 p.m. start time). There is a cost for the clinic and T-shirts. Email danceteam.acchs@gmail.com to sign up and all participants registered by Nov. 30 will receive a team shirt.

Central invites parents, alumni and the public to the 21st annual 40 Hours Devotion Dec. 14-15. This year’s event will follow Campus Ministry’s 2023-2024 school year theme, “Jesus, I Trust in You.” The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed 3-10 p.m. Dec. 14, with silent adoration 3-7 p.m. and musical praise and worship 7-9:45 p.m., concluding with benediction 10 p.m. The solemn closing procession and benediction will occur noon Dec. 15. All students will be dismissed 1 p.m. Dec. 15 following the end of 40 Hours. If you would like to attend Adoration Dec. 14, please RSVP via https://tinyurl.com/ACC40hr so the Blessed Sacrament is never alone. Please spend some time with the Lord during the busy Advent season by attending 40 Hours.

ACCHS families may now enter into the annual calendar raffle. This fundraiser assists families by lowering the fundraising charge from their total tuition balance. All families may sell as many 12-month calendars as they like, with every calendar offering the chance to win monetary amounts from $30-$250 for each day of the 2024 calendar year. Any student who donated five or more items to the NHS food drive may dress down in spirit wear Dec. 1. Please remember to follow all ACCHS Casual Spirit Day guidelines.

Central will hold several events soon to embrace festive holiday spirit. The ACCHS music department will perform its Christmas concert 7 p.m. Dec. 5. The Class of 2025 Student Council will hold a Gingerbread House Decorating Contest 6-8 p.m. Dec. 6 in Masson Auditorium. Each team must turn in their fee and forms by Dec. 3. Teams with the best-decorated gingerbread houses will receive a first, second or third place prize. The ACCHS chapter of National Honor Society will collect items for its annual toy drive Dec. 11-20 and all students who donate a toy will receive a casual spirit day to be announced.

Viking and Vikette basketball fans may now purchase season passes. Current ACCHS students may attend all home games for free with their student ID. Email athletics@acchs.info to buy your season pass today. Thank you to our dedicated ACCHS fans and we hope to see you in Rockne Hall this winter.

The girls basketball team will open its season with home games 7 p.m. Dec. 6 and Dec. 8 versus Whitehall and Bethlehem Catholic, respectively. The boys basketball team will play Nativity BVM at home 2:30 p.m. Dec. 2 and Northampton at home 7 p.m. Dec. 12. Anyone who ordered a 2022-2023 Glen Echoes Yearbook may pick it up next Dec. 15 after 40 Hours. Email Mrs. Ohl with any concerns at mohl@acchs.info.

The seventh annual freshman tuition credit raffle is now open. Three Class of 2028 students will earn a total of $10,000 toward their tuition through this raffle. To enter the raffle, go to www.acchs.info/apply, complete your child’s ACCHS online application and send the registration fee through the PayPal link. The earlier you apply, the more chances you have to win. Apply by Nov. 30 for the $4,000 drawing, by Dec. 31 for a $3,000 drawing or by Feb. 4, 2024 for the last drawing of $3,000. Anyone who applies before the deadline is automatically eligible for the raffles and applying before Feb. 4, 2024 eliminates the $200 application fee. Support the Vikette softball team by attending their gift card bingo Dec. 1 at St. John the Baptist Social Hall, 924 N. Front St., Allentown. Each ticket includes 15 hardboard games and five specials and the event will feature basket raffles and food for purchase. Doors open 6 p.m. and games will begin 6:45 p.m. If interested, contact a member of the ACCHS softball team or email eldrost@gmail.com.

Save the date for Viking Fest 2024 Feb. 24, 2024 at DeSales University, 2775 Station Ave., Center Valley. This year’s celebration will present the Semper Fidelis Award to Dennis ‘60 and Lucille Eddinger and Hugh ‘61 and Jean ‘62 (Stalsitz) Gallaher. Stay tuned for more details coming soon. Central invites all seventh grade, eighth grade and high school transfer students to shadow a current ACCHS student to experience a day as a Viking. Shadow days typically occur every Tuesday.
