SHS to host Red Ribbon Week and blood drive

Student Government Association representatives will be updating the board tonight, Nov. 15 about recent and upcoming events at the high school. Some events these students will discuss include: STARs, or Students Taking Active Roles club, preparing for their yearly Red Ribbon Week this week. During this week, the goal is to promote saying NO to drugs because it harms individuals’ physical and mental health.

Monday’s dress-up theme was “Wake up Drug Free: Wear your PJs” and Tuesday’s theme was “Don’t Pack Drugs: Anything but a Backpack Day.” Today is “Team up Against Drugs: Wear your Favorite Jersey.” Tomorrow and Friday’s dress-up themes are “We’re too Bright for Drugs: Wear Neon Colors” and “Red Ribbon Day: Wear Red.”

The Salisbury National Honor Society will hold its first blood drive of the school year 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 15 through Miller Keystone Blood Center. All students and community members are appreciated for what they are able to donate.

Juniors and seniors at Salisbury High School once again are given the opportunity to take online dual-enrollment college classes through Lehigh Carbon Community College for the spring semester. Those interested must register by Nov. 17 by handing in the form in the guidance office.

Looking ahead, SHS students, in addition to all other students in the district, will have off from school Nov. 22-27 for Thanksgiving break. Students and staff will return into their respective buildings Nov. 28.

When students return from Thanksgiving break, the SHS Winter Concert will be held 7 p.m. Nov. 30. The concert will be held in the auditorium and all are welcome to come. Admission is free.

Be on the lookout in future editions of The Press for photos from Red Ribbon Week and the SHS Winter Concert.
