Mather places third at CL Tourney

The Northwestern Lehigh golf team finished the regular season last week and began postseason play Monday.

The Tigers capped the regular season with a win over Palmerton last Thursday. Several members of the team went on to compete in Monday’s Colonial League Championships at Bethlehem Municipal Golf Course.

Northwestern’s Erik Mather took third place in the boys league tournament, shooting 10-over par 82 to finish one shot behind Southern Lehigh’s David Tervalon in second place and two shots behind winner Colin Sarnoski (Southern Lehigh.

Ethan Kozlowski also finished in the top five for the Tigers and secured a spot in the District 11 Championships. he shot 83 for fifth place. Teammates Stone Sosnovik (89, 15th place), Cole Dynda (91, 23rd place) and Caden Monahan (113, 46th place) also competed in the league tournament Monday.

In the girls tournament, Avri Chandler finished fourth with a 93, while Addison Remaley (97) finished sixth and Gracie Scheffler (100) placed ninth.

The Tigers went 10-3 in the regular season to finish fourth in the District 11 Class AA rankings, which will likely earn them one of four bids into the district team tournament.

Thursday, Sept. 14

Northwestern-Pen Argyl-Palmerton

Northwestern’s Cole Dynda shot an 80 to lead the Tigers to a 428-468 Colonial League victory over Palmerton.

The Knights received an 80 from Jake Martins, while Corey Serfass finished with an 88 for the Bombers (5-9).

Northwestern’s John Conti and Ethan Kozlowski both finished with 84s.

Pen Argyl-Northwestern

Northwestern’s Ethan Kozlowski and Cole Dynda tied for medalist honors, leading the Tigers to a 408-451 Colonial League victory over Pen Argyl.

Kozlowski and Dynda both recorded 78s, while teammate Erik Mather added a round of 80.

Northwestern-Bangor

Addison Remaley fired a 78 to earn medalist honors and lead Northwestern to a 420-498 Colonial League victory over Bangor.

Ethan Kozlowski and Jon Conto both added 82s to help the Tigers improve to 8-3.

The Slaters dropped to 3-11 with the loss.

Northwestern posted a 426-500 Colonial League win over Salisbury.

The Tigers’ Avri Chandler and Erik Mather tied for medalist honors, as both fired an 80.

The winners also received 88s from both Ethan Kozlowski and Jon Conti.
