Girls tennis tops Nazareth, SV

With the season nearly halfway over, the Emmaus girls tennis team is 4-3 overall and 2-3 in East Penn Conference matches.

The Hornets fell to Stroudsburg 4-3 on Friday as the Mountaineers swept the singles matches while Emmaus won three of four doubles matches.

Malena Stetz and Gabby Tranguch won the first doubles match 8-4. Cece Coleman and Josie Jackson took the No. 3 doubles match 6-6 (7-5), 6-3. Natalie Hillegass and Brooke DiGiacomo won their No. 4 doubles match 6-0, 6-0.

Emmaus beat Nazareth 5-2 on Aug. 30, taking one singles match and sweeping the four doubles contests. Natalie Marks was the Hornets’ only singles winner in the match as she earned a 6-4, 6-1 win. Stetz and Tranguch earned an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles, while Saab and Kaufman took the No. 2 doubles match 6-2, 6-1. Coleman and Jackson secured a 6-0, 6-0 win while Marks and DiGiacomo won the No. 4 doubles match 6-1, 6-1.

The Hornets beat Saucon Valley 7-5 in a nonleague match week. Individual results from that match were not received by the Press.
