School board member recognized for service years

Whitehall-Coplay School Board member Patty Gaugler was recognized during the Aug. 28 meeting for her years of service to Whitehall-Coplay School District.

Superintendent Dr. Robert Steckel presented Gaugler with a Pennsylvania School Board Association certificate of appreciation.

Noting Gaugler’s 12 years of service, the certificate officially adds her name to the PSBA Honor Roll of School Board Service.

This is one way the PSBA and the districts show appreciation for school directors’ efforts and commitment to public service.

PSBA is the association of and for public school leaders, advancing excellence in education through training, vital services as well as powerful advocacy. It is a nonprofit, membership-based organization that is not a regulatory entity.

Steckel also took the time to recognize the efforts of school, maintenance, transportation and technology staff for their collective contributions toward a streamlined first day of school. Students returned to the classrooms for the 2023-24 academic year earlier that day.

He also said the individual school principals did an outstanding job preparing their schools and staff for the start of the year.
