Blues Nite Out set for Aug. 26

BY SUSAN RUMBLE

Special to The Press

Blues Nite Out, to be presented Aug. 26, will offer another opportunity to enjoy an outdoor event in the grove at Union United Church of Christ, Neffs.

Bev Conklin and her band will be onstage 4-6:30 p.m., followed by Sarah Ayers and James Supra from 7-10 p.m.

Organizer Phil Wehr recalls Ayers was present as the opening band when Blues debuted in 2004.

Supra played harmonica in the headlining band that same year.

Conklin has been participating for about five years.

“Bands always love coming here to play for the community,” Wehr said.

He notes Blues has had a successful run ever since it began, except for two years off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Refreshment stands will be open with a selection including barbecues, sausage sandwiches, hot dogs, shrimp delight and hand dipped Friendly’s ice cream.

An assortment of baked goods will also be available.

“Bring your lawn chairs, neighbors, friends, and a healthy appetite,” said Wehr, as he extends a welcome to everyone for this favorite community occasion.
