Press Photo by Jim Marsh Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company firefighters drilled several evolutions of “run-in” exercises at the fire company's Swain Station, 950 S. Ott St., recently. The exercises comprise firefighters staging away from the fire station and responding to a mock scenario radioed to them by the department's training officer. Not knowing the details of the scenario beforehand, the firefighters “run in” and set up apparatus appropriate to the mock scenario, giving younger firefighters a “close to real” emergency situation to gain experience they use in actual emergency calls. The firefighters train and drill in weekly sessions.
