Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin and South Whitehall Police Chief Glen Dorney announced on June 15 an arrest was made in a fatal drug overdose.

Martin said Jose Miguel Ramirez, 23, of Allentown, was charged with drug delivery resulting in death, a felony of the first degree; criminal use of a communication facility, a felony of the third degree; delivery of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver; both felonies; recklessly endangering another person, a misdemeanor of the second degree and simple possession, a misdemeanor.

Ramirez was taken into custody without incident and was arraigned at the Lehigh County Central Booking Center.

On June 8, 2022, South Whitehall police were called to a home at 1874 Emerald Drive for a suspected drug overdose.

Bryce Boyer, 20, was pronounced dead and an autopsy by the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office determined the cause of death as mixed drug toxicity, including fentanyl.

The manner of Boyer’s death was ruled an accident.

According to Martin, an investigation revealed that on June 8, 2022, Ramirez allegedly delivered the drugs that caused Boyer’s death.
