Upper Macungie police say Samaydee Alicea Lugo, 43, of Reading, was driving a 2010 Ford Edge when it struck a utility pole 6:51 a.m. June 6 in front of Grim’s Greenhouse, 9929 Schantz Road, Upper Macungie Township.

According to police, Lugo was westbound on Schantz Road when the SUV left the roadway and struck the pole.

A concrete wall behind the utility pole was also severely damaged.

Police say Lugo, who was not wearing her seat belt, was seriously injured and transported by Cetronia Ambulance Corps to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

The SUV sustained severe disabling damage to its front bumper and hood area.

According to police, traffic on Schantz Road was limited to one lane for approximately 50 minutes while the crash was being investigated.
