LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

A look at the Zephyr seniors

The Whitehall class of 2023 graduated Monday and within it were five members of the softball team that helped the Zephyrs go to three straight district championship games after having their freshman seasons canceled by COVID.

While falling just short of the elusive title, the quintet deserves one final dose of recognition for their accomplishments.

Kassy Aquino

2022 second team All-EPC as a designated player. Four-year softball letter winner. As a senior, hit .358 with a team-high 3 home runs and drove in 21 runs. Led the 2022 team with 25 RBIs. In the circle as a senior she was 13-4 with a 2.83 ERA. Aquino struck out 59 batters in 84 innings. She committed to play softball in college at St. Peters University.

Haley Bartosh

2023 first team All EPC as a designated player. Batted .358 with 2 home runs and led the team with 26 RBIs. As a pitcher, she was 7-0 with a 2.20 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 54 innings.

She was on the varsity softball roster in 2020, but not in 2021 or 2022. Bartosh is a multiple-time letter winner on the girls volleyball team.

Emma Bonshak

2021 first team All-EPC outfielder. Four-year varsity letter winner. Played second base the last 2 seasons. Batted .357 as a senior with 13 RBI and 24 runs scored, good for second on the team. Scored 68 runs over the three seasons that were played.

Bonshak is also a three-time first team All EPC performer in field hockey and will play the sport at Rider University.

Mya Frana

Frana is a three-time varsity softball letter winner. As a senior, she hit .333 with 6 RBIs and 15 runs scored. She was tied for second on the team with 4 stolen bases.

Jess Spanitz

2021 first team All-EPC at third base. Moved to shortstop for her junior and senior seasons. Hit .358 as a senior with 11 RBIs and 22 runs scored. Tallied 60 runs over her three seasons. Spanitz was also a varsity letter winner as a libero for the Whitehall girls volleyball team.

The girls show their disappointment following the loss to Pocono East.
