Ernest P. Heintzelman

Ernest P. Heintzelman, 79, of Kempton, died peacefully on May 20, 2023, surrounded by his family in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

The loving husband of Shirley N. (Fritz) Heintzelman, the couple celebrated 57 years of marriage in September 2022.

Born in Eckville, he was a son of the late Norman C. and Amelia C. (Schollenberger) Heintzelman.

He worked at the Pennsylvania Steel Foundry in Hamburg, and Birch Hill Foundry, Shoemakersville, for many years.

He later was employed by J.C. Hill Tree Farm, Orwigsburg, while following his passion for horticulture and landscaping.

His greatest love was for his wife, and he also loved to grow and care for his flowers and plants.

He and his wife spent their lives as partners, working sunrise to sunset, making the world around them a beautiful place.

He will be remembered for these traits.

In addition to his devoted wife, he is survived by his son Ricky L. (Lisa) Heintzelman of New Tripoli; grandchildren Samantha, Makayla and Morgan Heintzelman; sisters Ida M. Hoppes of Orwigsburg, Shirley A. Long of Auburn, and Linda M. (Bruce) Bittner of Kempton.

He was predeceased by siblings Mark Heintzelman and Darlene Frey.

Memorial contributions in his name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
