Moravian relay team has local flavor

The Moravian University women’s track & field team has had its 4x100-meter relay squad of seniors Rachel Byrne (Liberty HS), Helen Davis (Whitehall HS) and Crystal Robinson (Long Valley, N.J.) and sophomore Abby Giamoni (Bangor HS) selected as part of the field for the 2023 NCAA Division III Men’s & Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Championships that will be hosted by St. John Fisher University in Pittsfield, New York on May 25-27.

The quartet will be competing in the NCAA Championships for the first time as a group while Robinson is making her second appearance after running in the 200-meter dash back in 2021. The group qualified 15th for the 16-team field with the preliminaries set for Thursday, May 25 at 5:15 p.m. The two preliminary heat winners and the next six fastest times will advance to the national championship race on Saturday, May 27 at 1:15 p.m.

The Greyhounds posted their qualifying time of 46.95 seconds, tying the Moravian and Landmark Conference records, at the All-Atlantic Regional Track & Field Conference Outdoor Championships hosted by Susquehanna University on Wednesday, May 17, the next to last day for qualifying.
