Good Cause: Toasting Baum School Art Auction

Across the Lehigh Valley, there’s much ado about the arts this spring and one culturally-charged events of the season is bringing digital bidding to an in-person format.

At the “Premier Party” for the 38th Annual Baum School of Art Auction, guests will celebrate in style when auctioneer Boris Wainio raises a toast May 13 to launch the silent auction from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

“Our auctioneer, Boris Wainio, has been instrumental to the longevity of our annual art auction. We are so grateful for his many years of dedication to the arts community and remarkable volunteer service to the school. While our auction format has changed, his involvement, expertise and enthusiasm for the auction is still a key factor in our continued growth and success,” says Shannon Fugate, Executive Director, Baum School of Art.

Guests can expect some very spirited hobnobbing as guests preview the hundreds of past to present local and regional artist works.

Tickets include a night of cocktails, music by Roger Latzgo and hors d’oeuvres by Karen Hunter.

Suggested attire is cocktail casual as ticket holders preview paintings, sculpture and other pieces by late, great artists such as Edgar Baum, Walter Emerson Baum, Fred Bees and Will Behler. Noted contemporary artists include Arta Brito, Nancy Bossert, Jan Crooker, Sandra Corpora and Femi Johnson.

Lauren Faurl, Director of Communications and Development at the Baum School of Art, notes that Wainio has been bringing energy and his knowledge to the Baum School of Art’s auction for nearly four decades. “Now, post-pandemic, it’s an honor to have him on board again,” says Faurl.
