Grace Lutheran Church, Macungie, holds weekly free food distributions 2-4 p.m. Also May 17, 24 and 31. Signs will be posted with directions for parking and pickup.

The Friends of the Emmaus Public Library will host a bus trip to the Morgan Library and Museum in New York City. The bus will depart 8 a.m. from The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 3461 S. Cedar Crest Blvd. and return approximately 6 p.m. the same day. Call 570-259-0200 with questions.

The Macungie Farmers Market opens for the season 4-7 p.m. on Lumber Street.

May 12, 13

The Friends of the Lower Macungie Library Spring Book Sale 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the library, 3450 Brookside Road. The sale preview is 5-7:30 p.m. May 11. There will be a bag sale 2:30-4:30 p.m. May 13. All proceeds benefit the library.

Macungie Flea Market 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. sponsored by the Friends of the Macungie Institute and Macungie Memorial Park (previously the Lions Club Flea Market) at Macungie Memorial Park, 50 N. Poplar St. Over 300 spaces for vendors. Free to the public.

The Seed Farm, 5854 Vera Cruz Road, will host a spring plant sale 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 13 and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 14. A wide variety of vegetable, herb and flower plants will be available. For information, visit the website theseedfarm.org.

Alan Hawman will present the program “A Virtual Historic Main Street Tour” at the 7 p.m. meeting of the Emmaus Historical Society in the parish hall of St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus. Programs are free to the public. Refreshments and snacks are served after the program.

Troop 31 will host a used clothing drive 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St., Emmaus.

Lehigh Valley Kennel Club hosts Bark Around the Park at Macungie Memorial Park, 50 N. Poplar St., Macungie.

May 21

The Upper Milford Historical Society will host an open house 1 to 4 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St. Visitors are welcome.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, Emmaus, welcomes the public to an organ dedication ceremony 2 p.m. at the church, 501 Chestnut St. Light refreshments will be offered immediately after the service. St. John’s acquired the organ from Grace Lutheran Church, Allentown, when it closed. A new organ was created by combining the two organs into a state-of-the-art instrument.

May 25

The Upper Milford Historical Society holds it monthly meeting 7 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St. The featured program is “Vera Cruz Part II.”

May 28

The Emmaus Veterans Committee honor guard will honor veterans at each of the six Emmaus cemeteries beginning 8 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery.

May 29

The Emmaus Veterans Committee will hold its annual Memorial Day parade and service. The parade will begin at the Emmaus High School parking lot 9 a.m.

June 4

The Kiwanis Club of Emmaus will host its 48th annual Pancake and Sausage Festival 8 a.m. to noon at Emmaus Fire Co. #1, Sixth and Broad streets. The event includes raffles, face painting and mascot appearances. Tickets are $10 and children under 10 are admitted free.

June 24

Mark your calendar for the Upper Milford Western District Fire Co #1 chicken barbecue event at the firehouse, 6341 Chestnut St., Old Zionsville. The ticket price includes one-half “Kauffmans“ chicken, baked potato, applesauce and roll. Dinners available for drive-thru pick-up noon to 4 p.m. or until sold out.
