EHS girls T&F eyes perfect season

The Emmaus girls track and field team continued its march toward a perfect regular season record with a victory last Monday afternoon over Nazareth, 114-36.

Like every meet this season, the Green Hornets received several solid performances in securing the win over the Blue Eagles. Emma Paradise edged out Nazareth’s Kylie Karavitch by one-tenth of one second to win the 400-meter dash. Madelyn McCartney took the 800, while Hailey Reinhard won the 1,600 and Addison Shank claimed the 3,200.

Another trend which continued was the superior output of the Hornet relay teams. The Hornets took first place in all three relays against Nazareth.

In the field events, Sheldyne Pierre won the high jump, long jump and triple jump in a memorable afternoon. Catherine Sirignano won the shot put, while Anna Farnschlader easily won the discus throw. Emmaus also received a fine display of athleticism and talent when Paige Seay won the javelin throw.

With the season nearly complete, Emmaus coach Kami Reinhard said preventing injuries at this time of year is paramount.

“We have emphasized rest and recovery throughout the entire season,” Reinhard said. “We offer cross-training workouts on recovery days for our athletes in order to prevent injuries. Preventing injuries is extremely important to me as a head coach.”

The final regular season meet is scheduled for May 2 at rival Parkland
