EHS boys T&F improves to 7-0

The Emmaus boys track and field team earned a 127-23 win last Thursday over Liberty at BASD Stadium. The win pushed the Green Hornets’ record to 7-0.

“Our boys team is by far the strongest team we have had at Emmaus High School, but competing against other teams who have developed their strongest teams as well,” Emmaus coach Kami Reinhard said. “As the bar keeps rising, our boys are matching where that bar is placed. I haven’t seen anything quite like this before in our district, and it’s really exciting.”

Dylan Darville is an exciting athlete and was also a winner against the Hurricanes when he claimed the 100-meter dash. Darville’s teammate Blaise Verrastro won the 400, while Tyler Finck took the 800. Conor Fisher claimed the 1,600 run and Samuel Dalton won the 3,200. Emmaus hurdlers Lucian Facchiano and Timothy Smith were winners in the 110 and 300, respectively.

In the field events, Kyle Moore won the high jump and long jump and Tyler Grabinski, a super sophomore, won the pole vault. Emmaus’ Joshua Lynds claimed the high jump, while Darville showed his strength in winning the shot put. Finally, Haven Tarbox won the javelin throw for the Hornets.

Reinhard said the boys’ success is based on a total team effort.

“I feel all event groups have trained and performed the best they possibly can,” she said. “At the beginning of the season, we spoke about performance and trust on a team, which can be applied to anything in life. Of course, our focus is to develop the highest performance possible among our student-athletes, but another focus is to instill qualities of high trust among them.”

The coach said this team is dangerous because the athletes and coaches always strive to get better.

“We have found that no matter the performance level our athlete, they are staying motivated to improve and be a crucial part of this team,” Reinhard said.
