Smith seeks controller seat

Robert E. Smith Jr. recently announced his candidacy for Lehigh County controller.

Smith says he is a devoted family man, serving as a loving husband, father and grandfather to his loved ones.

He has been a proud resident of the Lehigh Valley for over 30 years, sharing his life with his beloved wife, Eva, and raising their three children in the community.

“I have dedicated over 16 years of my life to improving the education system in the Lehigh Valley as an Allentown School director, and was elected president for five years due to my outstanding leadership skills,” Smith said.

Smith has served as an Allentown City councilman, where he says he has worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life for residents in the city.

“I also served as the vice chairman of the Human Relations Commission, where I championed equal rights and opportunities for all residents in the Lehigh Valley,” he said. I have contributed to the growth and development of the Lehigh Career & Technical Institute as a JOC member, helping to shape the future of vocational education in the area.

“I am a dedicated program specialist who serves disabled adults with intellectual disabilities and brain injuries, making a positive impact in the lives of those who need it the most.”

Smith says in his current pursuit of the controller’s office, he is committed to upholding transparency and accountability for the residents of Lehigh County, and aims to restore trust in the political system by taking a stand against divisive “woke” politics.
