Scheffler seeks seat on Heidelberg Twp board

Jay D. Scheffler has announced his candidacy for a six-year term as a Heidelberg Township supervisor.

A 49-year resident of the township, Scheffler is a graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School and Pennsylvania College of Technology.

He has been a self-employed carpenter for 25-plus years.

The candidate says he grew up working on a local farm, and values the rural community and preserved land in Heidelberg Township.

He serves as vice president of the Board of Appeals Codes for Heidelberg and Lynn townships and is a member of the Rural Preservation Association.

He has been an active volunteer for the Germansville Fire Company for 29 years, 19 of which he has served as fire chief.

Scheffler is an active emergency medical technician and holds numerous first responder and fire/rescue training certificates.

“I am dedicated to serving my community and am interested in representing the residents of Heidelberg Township by advocating for fiscal responsibility, future-forward planning, and efficient and effective management to meet the changing needs of the township,” Scheffler said. “As fire chief, I have been attending township meetings for many years and value the importance of transparent and open communication between the board of supervisors and residents.”

Scheffler and his wife, Rachael, have two daughters, Bailey, 20, and Gracie, 15.
