Softball wins, baseball falls

With a victory and a loss on Monday afternoon, Catasauqua’s softball and baseball teams both ended the day with 2-4 overall records.

The Rough Riders’ baseball team suffered a 12-5 home defeat against Salisbury, while the host Roughies softball team posted a 6-0 shutout over the same opponent.

Head coach Steve Bradley’s baseball unit took a 2-0 lead in the opening inning on Matt Fotta’s two-run double.

But Salisbury (1-5) rallied with a five-run third and a sixth-run fourth. Catty starter McKay Lewis pitched 3.2 innings and took the loss. Fotta went two-for-four for Catty.

Head coach Paige Kogelman’s softball squad broke a two-game losing streak with a three-run first inning.

Naychea Miranda went three-for-three with an RBI, and Sophia Becker was two-for-three with four RBIs, highlighted by her home run. Alivia June was two-for-three.

Delaney Troxell went the distance on the mound, allowing five hits and striking out 14.
